The Sycamores aren't like other families. Grandpa quit his job thirty-five years ago when he decided work was getting in the way of living. His daughter writes plays that never get finished. His granddaughter makes candy while practicing ballet. Her husband prints revolutionary slogans on the candy boxes. And down in the basement, someone's always building fireworks. Then Alice — the one normal Sycamore — falls in love with the boss's son and invites his very respectable parents to dinner. On the wrong night.
