Volunteer
Your Spotlight is Waiting.
Coal Creek Theater of Louisville has been all-volunteer since 1990. Every show on our stage has been built by the neighbors who decide to show up, and that hasn't changed once in {cctl-years} years. We've grown alongside Louisville on a foundation of openness, collaboration, and a shared respect for the work and the community that makes it possible. Here's how you can get involved.
Why We’re Here
Since 1990, Coal Creek Theater of Louisville has run on the time, talent, and goodwill of our neighbors and friends. Volunteers fill every role at CCTL, from front of house to the Board of Directors, and they all share two things in common – they love storytelling, and they take deep pride in the place they call home.
We've spent [cctl-years} years growing alongside Louisville, and we've done it on a foundation of openness, collaboration, and respect for our community and everything they so generously share, season after season. Seasoned thespians, tinkering technicians, and curious newcomers are all welcome to help us tell Louisville’s next story.
What to Expect
We welcome anyone with an interest in live theater, no experience needed. Every volunteer day starts with a warm welcome, a clear plan, and a team that's glad you're here. Beyond that, different volunteer roles ask for different things.
Always – email access for scheduling, a phone number in case plans shift & a love of pizza lunches
Ushering – business casual all-black attire, a friendly presence & an eye for when someone needs a hand
Load-In & Set Building – comfortable shoes, clothes you don't mind getting paint on & an ability to lift things
Minors can volunteer alongside a parent or guardian. As thanks for your time, every volunteer receives free tickets to our shows. If you have questions, reach out to our Volunteer Chairperson. To stay in the loop on new opportunities as they come up, sign up for our newsletter.
The New Friends You’ll Meet
Where You Fit In
Everyone has something to bring to a working theater. Directors, designers, photographers, accountants, electricians, marketers, and grant writers are just a few of the people who contribute here. We welcome anyone with something to offer, whatever your industry or experience.
Production roles come through a selection committee for each show, so anyone interested in directing, designing, stage managing, or technical work should reach out to our Artistic Director to read our By-Laws. For those looking to shape the season more directly, get in touch with our Board of Directors to see where your path may lead.
