DEI Commitment

Coal Creek Theater of Louisville is building an inclusive theater community where everyone belongs. Live theater thrives when it reflects the full diversity of our community, on stage and off.

We acknowledge that systemic barriers have historically excluded people from theater based on race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, economic status, and other identities. We're committed to dismantling those barriers through action, not just words.

Our Commitments

We practice access for all. Anyone can audition, volunteer, usher, or join our Board. We don't require experience, credentials, or financial contribution. If you want to be part of live theater in Louisville, there's a place for you here.

We stage diverse stories from different voices and perspectives. Through our Front Range Playwrights Showcase, we actively seek out and develop new plays from underrepresented communities.

We practice inclusive casting based on talent and suitability for the role, welcoming actors of all backgrounds.

We're committed to accessibility by keeping ticket prices low and opportunities open regardless of financial means. We're working to make our historic venue and productions accessible to people with disabilities, and we welcome feedback as we continue this work.

We embrace ongoing learning and accountability. We're committed to listening, evolving, and doing better with guidance from our community.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Anyone can be part of Coal Creek Theater of Louisville. We welcome people of all backgrounds in every aspect of our work, from auditions and casting to volunteer opportunities, Board positions, and Front Range Playwrights Showcase submissions. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. If you want to audition for a show, sign up to usher, or get involved in building live theater in Louisville, there is a place for you here.

Non-Harassment Policy

Coal Creek Theater of Louisville is committed to creating a respectful, welcoming community. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind, whether you're volunteering, performing, on our Board, in our audience, or visiting our space. Theater requires trust, vulnerability, and close collaboration. Intimacy in scenes must be choreographed with consent. Dressing areas are private. Directors and designers hold power that must never be abused. Creative spaces can be challenging, but they must always be safe.

Defining Harassment

Harassment is unwelcome conduct based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. This includes verbal, physical, or visual harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, intimidation, or retaliation.

How to Report

If you see something, say something. Report to any Board member, show director, or stage manager, or contact the Board Chair directly via our Contact page. If your concern involves the Board Chair, contact another Board member. You can also reach out to external resources like The Entertainment Community Fund or the RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline.

We investigate all reports promptly and confidentially. If harassment is confirmed, we'll take appropriate action, up to and including removal or permanent ban. Retaliation is strictly prohibited.
