Old School.
Always a New Story.

Ten miles southeast of Boulder and twenty miles northwest of Denver, the Louisville Center for the Arts sits six blocks from Historic Downtown Louisville, Colorado. Originally a mining-era schoolhouse, this Victorian-style building is now part historic landmark, part cultural hub, and part our backstage. We became its founding resident theater company in 1998, and we've called it home ever since. Here's a closer look at our home, and how to find us when you're ready to visit

The Louisville Center for the Arts

The Louisville Center for the Arts was a schoolhouse first. It opened in 1894 as a two-room schoolhouse for the children of Louisville's coal miners. In 1990, the City of Louisville announced plans to renovate the building into a community arts space. Renovations wrapped in 1997, and Coal Creek Theater of Louisville moved in the following year as the Arts Center's founding resident company.

Today, the Arts Center is the cultural heartbeat of downtown Louisville. Inside, refinished hardwood floors, high ceilings, original exposed brick, and tall windows fill the space with Colorado sunshine. For every production, we transform the room into a 55-seat venue where you're never more than a few rows from the action.

The Louisville Center for the Arts is listed on the Louisville Register of Historic Places, and we've worked alongside the City to keep it thriving for decades. We're proud to be part of its story.
