Forest Hills, Queens. Three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea, then head to the cemetery to visit their husbands. Ida's starting to feel ready for whatever comes next. Lucille's been ready since the funeral. Doris can't imagine being ready ever. Then Sam the butcher shows up visiting his own late wife, and suddenly the question isn't whether to move on - it's whether friendship can survive when one of you actually does.
