When Death comes calling for old Gramps, he's not ready to go — not until he knows his orphaned grandson Pud will be safe from a scheming aunt who wants the boy's inheritance. So Gramps does what any resourceful grandfather would do: he tricks Death into climbing the backyard apple tree and refuses to let him down. A 1938 Broadway hit based on Lawrence Edward Watkin's novel, this tender fantasy asks how far love will go to hold on — and when it's finally time to let go.
