Coal Creek Theater of Louisville presents

Shadowlands

by William Nicholson
Directed by Dan Schock

Oxford, 1950s. C.S. Lewis is a confirmed bachelor, a beloved professor, and the author of the Narnia books. He lectures on suffering with confident detachment—pain, he explains, is God's way of calling us to something greater. Then an American writer named Joy Gresham shows up. She's blunt, brilliant, and entirely unimpressed by his comfortable certainties. What begins as correspondence becomes friendship. Friendship becomes something more. And when Joy is diagnosed with cancer, everything Lewis thought he understood about faith, love, and loss is put to the test. William Nicholson's Tony-nominated play about the man who wrote about other worlds—and the woman who finally pulled him into this one.

Run Time – 2 hours & 20 minutes with one 15-minute intermission

Cast and Creative Team

  • Biz works at several community theaters in Colorado. She's been a set builder, scenic painter, prop builder, and pretty much everything else over the years. She would like to thank her HUSBAND Gov Landrum for putting up with theater craziness for all of their lives.

  • Peg is very happy to team up again with Jan Davison to prop Shadowlands. This is at least the fifth show that Peg has propped for Dan Schock including And Then There Were None, Dancing At Lughnasa, and Rope at Coal Creek Theatre and Murder on the Nile at LTC. Along with the very talented cast and crew, we hope you enjoy the show.

  • Jan is excited to work on another show here at CCTL. Whether on stage or backstage it's always a memorable and rewarding experience. She has been seen on stage here in Picnic and in You Can't Take it With You for which she was awarded a Louie for runner up as Best Actress. She was named Best Stage Manager for Of Mice and Men, for which she also designed costumes. This time she has had the opportunity to provide props for this lovely production. Thank you to Dan for inviting her along on this journey and to an outstanding cast for making it a privilege.

  • Kathleen has costumed many shows at CCTL. Favorite mainstage shows have been Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, And Then There Were None, Rope, and The Importance of Being Earnest for which she won Best Costume Design along with Best Costume Design for The Savannah Sipping Society and a Louie for Deathtrap last season. She also won a Costume Design Award at the Colorado Community Theatre Coalition Festival for Working. Kathy would like to thank the cast and crew for their dedication and cooperation. She hopes you enjoy our show and thanks for supporting the local theater!
