Labor Day in a small Kansas town. The Owens women are getting ready for the annual picnic — mother Flo hoping her beautiful daughter Madge will finally land the nice, wealthy boy. Then Hal hops off a freight train. He's broke, aimless, and exactly the wrong kind of man. But when he and Madge start dancing, everyone watching knows what's going to happen. A Pulitzer Prize winner that understands exactly how dangerous a dance can be when you're willing to give up anything to feel alive.
